About

Molly lives in eastern Idaho, just a stone (or potato) throw from the Wyoming border. Yellowstone

National Park lies to the north and Grand Teton

National Park to the east.

Much of Molly’s work is fueled by the time she spends outside exploring the natural world and investigating the issues and cultures pertinent to mountain communities, including the very one she lives in.

A graduate of political science and journalism, Molly has interned at multiple publications. In addition to freelance writing she has worked as a translator of Spanish articles; contributing editor for She Sends magazine; and columnist for the award-winning Jackson Hole News and Guide. She also has written and produced radio programs. In 2008 Molly received Middlebury College’s Environmental Journalism Fellowship.

Molly is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists, the Idaho Writer’s Guild and the Journalism and Women Symposium, where in 2009 she was a Fellow. She has also taught writing workshops for the Wyoming Wilderness Association. In 2010 Molly was a writer-in-residence with Grand Teton National Park’s Murie Center.

Molly brings a unique perspective to her writing with substantial experience working for over a decade as a mountain guide throughout the Western United States, Antarctica and South America. She also is the recipient of several international exploratory climbing and skiing grants. Her personal expeditions, many of which have included first ascents and descents, have taken her to places like Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Alaska, China, Nepal and Oman.

She has done numerous multi-media presentations about her expeditions for a variety of audiences throughout the Western United States. These multi-media shows combine beautiful images with adventure and the historical, political, cultural and environmental issues which make that locale unique.
